US Evangelicals Warm to Climate Change - UK Guardian
One of the biggest flaws of the Republican party is the huge emphasis placed on social morality as opposed to the principles of fiscal responsibility, limited-government, and liberty. Morality/Faith/Religion is private and should be left to the individual. As Republicans start appealing toward people as opposed to principles, they will lose out. Take for instance many Evangelicals, a strong Republican front, who are coming full-force in support of the cap-and-trade legislation delayed by Congress. The true test of the Republican party at this stage in the game is to ask themselves, will they appeal to people or to principle? To stand for people will mean they will follow-suite and endorse climate change alongside the evangelicals. If they decide to stand for principle they will convince this deranged crowd of the inherent dangers associated with government mandating anything. They can begin to explain the vast importance of oil to our economy and our future growth. It can be these Republicans who finally take a stand and declare the outlandish threats of climate change are derived from a false premise and is set to destroy America; all the while delivering mass rewards to corrupt politicians, i.e. Al Gore.
